Introducing UKG

In 2020, after 3 years of sharing the “People First” story of Ultimate Software, Mission North helped introduce the world to UKG, a powerhouse cloud company built from the merger of Ultimate and Kronos Incorporated. Armed with 70 years of combined HCM experience, a new brand and an updated mission – “Our purpose is people” – we told the story of a record-breaking $22 billion merger. This merger took place at the outset of the pandemic and was completed entirely remotely, posing both unique communication challenges and opportunities to highlight how business can be done in “the new normal.”

Educating leaders for a remote world

UKG was 40% remote before the pandemic, so with more companies developing remote and hybrid work policies, Mission North tapped UKG’s HR and technology experts to offer best practices for organizations experimenting with new ways of working. UKG experts educated leaders on how to avoid virtual micromanagement, new benefits options for working parents supporting remote schooling, and why remote work can improve the work experience for employees with disabilities.

Unlocking economic recovery insights with data

As the pandemic gave rise to the Great Resignation, Mission North worked with UKG’s data team to offer fresh perspectives on the state of the economic recovery. Each month, we drive media coverage of the Workforce Activity Report, a unique, real-time dataset on hourly shift work volume across industries and geographies, which has been picked up by the likes of CNBC, Bloomberg TV, CNN Business, Forbes, The Hill and U.S. News & World Report. The report offers a forecast ahead of the monthly Bureau of Labor Statistics’ jobs report and has become a go-to dataset for top tier economy and labor reporters.
